Download ClipLeve and try it with your own video. Your first smaller copy is free, with no watermark.
Download on the App Store Requires iOS 18 or later. One free copy per device, counted after it is saved and verified. Additional copies and Pro features require an annual or lifetime plan.Allow access to the videos you want to review. You can allow only some videos and change that choice later. The home screen shows your available space, measured on the iPhone, a labelled estimate (≈) of how much your biggest videos could shrink and, under Start here, the three biggest. In the list, the largest ones come first. Tap Make light.
Three options — Nearly identical, Balanced and Much smaller — show the estimated size and percentage before anything is processed, calculated from each option's bit rate. Over your own video, a before/after line you drag shows the original and the smaller copy at the same instant, on a few-second clip prepared automatically; hold to see the original. Compression can reduce detail; the result depends on the video.
Tap Create light version. The final size is confirmed when it's done: the estimate is not a guarantee. Before it goes to Photos, the smaller copy is read in full and compared with the original. Then choose Replace the original, Keep both or Discard.
Select up to 50 videos in the list (Select) or tap Make all N light on the home screen. You pick one size for all of them, and ClipLeve creates, verifies and saves the smaller copy of each video, one at a time, through the same safe path. Videos that are already light or aren't compatible are skipped. With Replace originals when done, once every smaller copy has been checked, a single iPhone confirmation moves those originals to Recently Deleted, where they stay for 30 days. The screen stays on during the queue; leaving the app stops the queue after the current video (on iOS 26, it may continue in the background, with the system's progress).
Need to send a large video? Choose the destination's limit — For messages (up to 64 MB), For email (up to 25 MB) or a custom size — and, if you like, just a clip. ClipLeve prepares a version that fits that limit, opens the iPhone share sheet and deletes the file afterward. Nothing is saved to Photos and the original doesn't change.
The welcome screen shows an example measured with the app's demo video. On your own videos, each option's estimated size and the before/after comparison appear before any purchase.
The queue and sending smaller versions are part of ClipLeve Pro. The queue only moves originals to Recently Deleted if you turn on Replace originals when done, and only after every smaller copy is checked and your iPhone confirms.
ClipLeve does not overwrite or edit the original video. The smaller copy is saved as a new video in Photos, with the same date, location and favorite. Before that, it is read in full and compared with the original; once saved, it is read back from Photos and checked by hash.
On the result screen, Replace the original saves the smaller copy, checks it in Photos and only then asks for the iPhone's own confirmation to move the original to Recently Deleted. If you prefer, tap Keep both and, later, Compare both: tick the confirmation checkbox and tap Move original to Recently Deleted. If any step fails, nothing is removed.
A removed original goes to the Recently Deleted album in Photos, where it stays for 30 days and can be recovered. The home screen shows how many originals are there, Recoverable until the date, Open Photos and I emptied it: the app reads your available space before and after you empty Recently Deleted and shows both numbers. With iCloud Photos, the removal may show up on your other devices. Recently Deleted is not a backup.
A saved smaller copy is not freed-up space. The sizes shown in the app are file sizes. While both videos exist, the smaller copy takes up additional space. Even after a removal, Photos and iCloud decide when the device's storage changes. The measurement after emptying Recently Deleted is a reading of the system's value, not a promise. That is why ClipLeve does not promise any amount of freed space or guaranteed savings.
Each video goes through a compatibility check before the smaller copy is created. When a video is not compatible, the app explains the limitation and does not offer a purchase to process it.
| Size | Maximum resolution | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Nearly identical | Same resolution, up to 4K | Prioritizes detail. The reduction may be small. |
| Balanced | Up to 1080p | Balance between size and detail. The default. |
| Much smaller | Up to 720p | May reduce detail more. For keeping or sending. |
Each option uses HEVC at a target bit rate, and the estimated size and percentage appear before you create anything; the final size is confirmed when it's done. Resolution never goes up. Equivalent options for a given video may be grouped together. The smaller copy is only offered for saving when it is at least 5% and 5 MB smaller than the original; otherwise the app tells you the video is already light.
Your first smaller copy is free, with no watermark. It only counts once it is saved and checked in Photos. Comparisons, estimates, failures, cancellations, the demo and videos that were already light do not use it up.
ClipLeve Pro unlocks new smaller copies, the video queue and Send a smaller version. There are two plans, and you choose:
Auto-renewable yearly subscription. New subscribers may get a free trial, shown on the purchase screen before you confirm. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when the trial ends and every year after that, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
Cancel anytime in iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or with Manage subscription in ClipLeve Settings.
One-time payment, no automatic renewal. For people who prefer not to subscribe.
Each plan's price is the price shown by the App Store, in your storefront's currency, before you confirm.
The per-file format, duration and size limits apply on every plan. Comparisons, estimates, the demo, help, history, restore, and reviewing and removing originals do not require a purchase. Smaller copies you have already saved stay in Photos even without an active plan.
It may. Compression can reduce detail, and the result varies by file. That is why the app shows the original and the smaller copy at the same instant, with a line you drag over your own video, and you can watch the smaller copy before saving. If it does not work for you, tap Discard: the original is not changed.
Keep both keeps both files in Photos. When the original goes to Recently Deleted, it still takes up space for up to 30 days, until you empty Recently Deleted in Photos. Tap I emptied it on the home screen to see your available space measured before and after. The sizes shown are file sizes, not a measure of freed space.
A thumbnail in Photos does not mean the full video is already on the iPhone. When the original is stored only in iCloud, ClipLeve offers a Download from iCloud and continue button and only downloads after you tap it, showing the progress. The download uses internet data (including cellular data, depending on your iPhone settings) and temporary storage. The original stays in Photos and in iCloud.
No. There is no automatic deletion. An original only leaves if you ask (Replace the original, Move original to Recently Deleted or, in the queue, Replace originals when done), after the smaller copy has been checked in Photos and with the iPhone's own confirmation. The item goes to Recently Deleted in Photos, where it stays for 30 days.
Select up to 50 videos in the list or use Make all N light on the home screen. ClipLeve processes them one at a time with the size you chose, verifies and saves each smaller copy, and skips videos that are already light. Keep the app open: leaving it stops the queue after the current video (on iOS 26, it may continue in the background). The originals stay in Photos unless you turn on Replace originals when done: then a single iPhone confirmation moves them to Recently Deleted at the end.
For sending a large video. Choose For messages · up to 64 MB, For email · up to 25 MB or a custom size and, if needed, just a clip. ClipLeve prepares a version that fits, opens the iPhone share sheet and deletes the file afterward. Nothing is saved to Photos.
In ClipLeve Settings, tap Manage subscription, or open iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid being charged for the next period. More details.
Open Settings in ClipLeve and tap Restore Purchase using the App Store account you bought it with. If the purchase is waiting for approval, the unlock depends on Apple's confirmation. More help.
Yes. On the Videos tab, Try with a sample video uses a video included in the app. It does not access your library, does not save to Photos and does not use the free smaller copy.
